Weekly wrap and a look ahead
Even with Gary Cohn resigning, the tariffs being imposed and an extremely strong jobs report the equities managed to close out the week very strong. We took out some technical resistance in several indexes and sectors on Friday. Now we need to see if we can maintain the breakouts next week. There is a chance we could see a failed breakout but for now the bulls appear to have retaken control.
We have some overbought conditions in the near term but that does not mean we can't grind higher. However, it would not be a total shock if we were to stall and pull back or see some near term consolidation as we approach potential price resistance and all time highs in several indexes and sectors.
I can not tell you that we won't go test the lows we made in February or when it might happen all we can do it play the market we see in front of us.
